What is Veganism?
Veganism is the practice of abstaining from the use of animal products, particularly in diet, and involves the associated philosophy the rejects the commodity status of animals.
Distinctions can be made between several categories of veganism:
Dietary Vegan: Not eating any animal products (meat, dairy, eggs as well as other animal derived substances like honey)
Ethical Vegan: Eating a vegan diet as well as extending the philosophy into other areas of their lives & opposing the use of animals for any purpose.
Environmental Vegan: Avoidance of animal products on the premise that the industrial farming of animals is environmentally damaging and unsustainable.
Plant Based/ Whole Food Vegan: Eating a vegan diet but having as little as possible from cans and packages. Restricting the use of processed foods.
Raw Vegan: Not eating anything that has been heated above 45 degrees Celsius. Soaking nuts, seeds, sprouting grains, legumes & rice is popular.
Paris Vegan: Eating vegan daily but vegetarian when eating out with friends/family.
Travel Vegan: Eating a vegan diet daily but experiencing the local cuisine when traveling.

While you eating a vegan diet won't drastically change the world but it does help in the long run.
But what can I eat?
I know there are lots of misconceptions when it comes to vegan food. That all you eat are fruits and veggies. That couldn't be farther from the truth. You can eat fruit, veggies, beans, sprouts, rice, pasta, Yves brand foods, Gardein brand foods.
Veganism is becoming more and more popular so many stores are making products more accessible to vegans.

What if my family doesn't support me?
Now I was really lucky and my family is really supportive of me. But that does't mean that yours will be unfortunately. However in all reality if you do your research and have an argument to back up your choice you family will eventually come around. But you do have to remember that you are not doing this for anyone else you are doing this for you. If they don't support you it's not really their choice.
How do I make the change?
Start slow by cutting out dairy and then slowly cut back on meat and eggs before cutting it out all together.
Make the change slow, don't do it all at once, you are more likely to have a hard time making the change if you do.
