Best Books of the Summer

Today I wanted to share my top 5 of the summer (so far). I have read 50 books just in June & July and will probably read another at least 20 this month. These books are not in any order. I really liked all of these books and I will make note of my always-buy authors when I share the title.

Curvy Girl's Can't Date Quarterbacks by Kelsie Stelting

Emerson Academy’s star quarterback has six-pack abs and a line of girls ready to date him while I spend more time alone in the art room than I ever do with people. But that’s about to change.

The mean girl told me someone like him would never date a plus-size girl, and my mouth spoke before my brain thought. I bet her I could get the star quarterback, Beckett Langley, to take me to homecoming. And he doesn’t even know I exist.

It’s all fun and games, trying to get his attention so she’ll stop making fun of me. But then I get to know the real Beckett. He’s tired of only being thought of as a good-looking jock, just like I don’t like people judging me.

And now I have a really big problem: he doesn’t know our relationship is built on a bet. And I don’t know how to tell him the truth without losing the first and only guy I’ve ever loved.

I loved this whole series not just this book. This is the first in the series and there are 11 books currently but there is supposed to be another one coming out. I'm not sure when. I think that the main reason that I loved this book is because it really showed what being a plus-size girl can be like. I'm not saying that the whole book is a fact but rather the feelings of being the plus-sized girl in high school are all there. I highly recommend this book (and series).

Redeemed by Lauren Asher *always by author*

Santiago

One mistake destroys my career.

I go from most eligible bachelor to monster, hiding from the world.

At least until Chloe breaks into my home. My new fake girlfriend is a temporary fix to my biggest problem.

But as our game changes, so do my feelings.

There’s only one issue stopping me from claiming her.

Me.

Chloe

It all started with a birthday wish, some vodka, and an ancestry kit.

That’s how I end up in Italy, finding my long-lost father.

But one decision lands me a fake boyfriend I don’t want.

The more we pretend, the easier our ruse becomes.

I told myself not to fall in love with a liar like Santiago.

I should have listened.

I loved this book. It was my favourite book of the Dirty Air series. This book was full of surprises and twists but it was so good. I'm glad I finally read the series. Well worth a read but I suggest reading the series in order to get the full effect of the story.

Cupcake by Cookie O'Gorman

I know what you're thinking.

You're thinking this will be just one more story of the ignored, "big-boned " girl, who sheds her glasses and a few extra pounds and finally attracts the notice of the most popular guy in school.

Except it isn't. Because I'm not unpopular. Not all that ignored. And I love the way I look―just as I am.

Then someone puts my name in for Homecoming Court.

The bigger surprise?

People actually vote for me!

Now, I'm a "princess"―whether I like it or not―but the guy I'm paired with isn't exactly Prince Charming.

Rhys Castle is the strong, silent type who always wears a frown―he's certainly never smiled at me. I'm 99.9% sure he hates being on Court and being my partner, but surprisingly…he doesn't switch when he gets the chance.

Turns out Rhys has a secret―something that makes him run hot and cold throughout the entire three weeks of Homecoming festivities. Whether he's stepping on my feet during dance lessons or gallantly escorting me through the Homecoming parade, I can't get a read on this guy, and for the first time, I find my confidence wavering.

But there's more to Rhys than meets the eye. And the more the spotlight shines on me, I realize there's more to me, too.

I loved this book. It was something different from what I had been reading as this book is technically a YA Rom-Com. This book was so cute though, I'm a sucker for plus-sized female main characters, and having her be a homecoming princess as well was super cute. Well worth a read.

Pretty Little Mess by Nichole Rose *always buy author*

Falling for her grumpy mountain man boss was not part of this sunshiney hot mess's plans for Galentine's Day.

Cordelia

Welcome to Winthrop, WA. Population: Screwed.

When I answered Deacon Cromwell's ad for an assistant, roughing it with a mountain man was not what I had in mind.

But I'll give anything a shot. Just so long as it doesn't shoot back.

When my grumpy new boss finds out he hired...well, me...all bets are off.

He's way too hot to handle.

And I'm dying to be handled.

If we don't kill each other first.

I mean, accidents happen in the wild all the time, right?!

Deacon

When I placed an ad for an assistant, I expected someone who knew about life in the mountains.

Instead, I got saddled with the prettiest little mess I've ever met.

Cordelia's mouth never stops moving, and the only thing hotter than that pink hair is her temper.

I have no business putting my filthy hands all over her, but she’s itching for someone to settle her down.

And it damn sure won't be anyone but me.

This hot mess is mine to tame.

I love all of Nichole Rose's books and this one is no exception. Super cute (technically a novella) book and I loved the Valentine's aspect. If romances are your thing then I highly suggest you try out Nichole Rose.

Fallen Snow by Jolie Vines

Hot rock star meets injured snowboarder. Even broken hearts can melt.

Viola

After a hit and run, my gold medal dreams are forced on hold. I can’t walk, let alone snowboard, and a wheelchair is my new way to get around.

Everything I worked for has been destroyed.

Then the world’s number one rock star strides into my life.

He’s staying in my castle and working with my family. I know he remembers the kiss we shared years ago, but Leo’s no longer the same man. Gone are the sexy smirks and chilled out vibe. I know why, and I want to hold him close and make him forget. How can I help him when I can’t even help myself?

Leo

I might be famous, but notoriety can’t fix a shattered heart. I’m alone in the world and drowning, except my contract calls for new songs, and soon.

I have to find my muse again.

Years ago, Viola McRae inspired my greatest hit. But now, she’s as damaged on the outside as I am on the inside. She's wildly gorgeous, vulnerable, and I could so easily tap that hurt and turn it into song.

Yet saving my career could mean exposing Viola’s pain to the world. I might be damaged beyond repair, but can I really use Viola when that will only leave her more broken?

This book was so good. It was my favourite of the Wild Scots series but honestly in my opinion you can't read them out of order, so make sure to start the series with Hard Nox. I love that even though Viola was injured she didn't let it stop her.

Like I said at the beginning of this post these 5 are definitely not the only books that I have read this summer but they are my top 5 (so far) of the summer.

Want more book recommendations? Depending on what genre you are interested in I'm sure that I could help you out.

Do you have recommendations for me? I would love to hear them.
